Lunch at Restaurant 1953 Indonesien Jakarta

Restaurant 1953 Indonesien enchanted me from the very beginning. I found the concept of serving classic Indonesian food in a house built during the Dutch Colonial era exciting.

The well-furnished interior and cozy atmosphere remind me of chic semi fine dining restaurants in Bali like Sarong.

During our visit at lunch hour, the place was not crowded. Besides our group of 8, there's also a group of young ladies in what seems like a class reunion setting, judging from all the laughs and similar ages.

Upon our first interaction with the waiter, I was quite impressed by the gesture and professional but relaxed manner. Fits nicely with the chic elegant setting.

Upon selecting our food we have several recommendations from our waiter and decided to order them all.

How was the food? Here we go:

The restaurant's highly recommended menu was Tongseng Iga Kambing (199K) that served with medium hot spicy broth, and three full sized lamb chops! While the broth was fine as it resembles a slightly toned down street food version, I found the meat felt significantly fatty hence it tasted quite strong. The cooking level of all three lamb chops was also not equal, as one was still rare compared with the somewhat medium well two others. Not something I'd recommend for the lamb-shy foodie.

The Mixed Satay Plate was gorgeously presented and the satay variants tasted pleasing. I did find the Sate Lilit Bali a bit weak, strong on the herbs but lacking the significant taste of the fish.

On the other hand, the Wagyu Rica Rica was good. The meat melted in my mouth oozing that buttery meat juice, and it pairs beautifully with the rica rica sambal provided. I'd highly recommend this menu, though it's not something traditionally Indonesian.

If you enjoy eating with rice, there's different kind of rice to choose, and one of them in Nasi Kencur, steamed rice seasoned with campfera galangal, aromatic herb with mellow ginger flavor and significant umami flavor.

In the drink department, I found Bir Pletok is on the menu, among other traditional, and popular contemporary choices. While the Bir Pletok tasted authentic, I did find the sweetness level overwhelming, hence I ordered my second drink a fresh juice without sugar.

On the overall, the service was prompt and friendly, and the elegant laid back ambiance fits nicely small gathering, semi romantic dinner, or arisan.

the Beach House

Location:Echo Beach, Canggu, Bali
Great escape to Echo Beach; it was rainy Sunday all over! Pass through Kerobokan, and Canggu, Echo Beach at the last. First view on the ocean.. Surfers that looked like cold sardines in a big icy bowl, sprinkle wink, waiting turn for big waves, in humming voice they said “pick me.. pick me..” Their eyes so red, I love their guts..

Run and sitting in the Beach House for shelter, We never expected much, but bartenders and waiters are most genuine server so far, khika tried the frozen Margarita 40k, not really wise for this weather, and decided to join me for another Mojito 40k (they offered compliment for the margarita, since its never been “big” sipped) Thanks!

After a breeze the rain was gone, fire been light up, I took a walk and deeply inhaled fresh ocean bouquet, in far, a group of smile and proud people preparing a buffet. I dare to take pictures, they do wide choices, real fresh, and entertaining, asked them to grill a kilo of Clam 40k, and for appetite I took a plate of free Couscous, Coleslaw, Tomato-Pesto, also Potatoes Salad. This is when its start, Unbelievably Great! All right in mixed and originality..

Then the grilled Clam ready on my plate, I admitted of freshness, neither much watery nor dry, It done in Jimbaran style, with most shell black on both side, but medium-rare inside, looks white and shinny, marinated in blended tomatoes, garlic, salt, pepper, light vegetable oil, than finish by a lime. A bit flush down with mineral water after, my hint is don’t take any sweet dessert after fresh grilled seafood, since I like the scent of “light smoky ocean” stay in my palate..

Review, In terms of Furniture, Fixture, Decorative things, Table Set-up, Chinaware, Cutleries, Glassware, Sequences of Services, etc, miss-lead us to judged and put this restaurant in low-mid box .. but honest Sunday, need these in list; nice sunset view, warm friendly service, original ingredients cocktail, real fresh seafood, right grilling method, definitely reasonable price, and a plus is a clean toilet.. They have all.

Citrus Cafe: Refreshing Comfort

Rating:★★★★
Category:Restaurants
Cuisine: International
Location:Ruko Dharmawangsa Square and TIS Square, Tebet
Cafes are synonymous with light meals to accompany your chat. Mostly, light meals with heavy costs, for you are mostly paying for the atmosphere, and that cup of latte of course.

However, Citrus CafĂ© rings a different bell. Inspired by the freshness of the tangy fruit, and the fact that most of its dishes uses citrus-related flavorings for zest’s sake, the cafĂ© stands proud with its serious meals, fun atmosphere and friendly service.

Interior-wise, the name does not necessarily mean that you will be thrown in an orange-yellow affair, though the décor of Citrus Café certainly gives a fresh vibe with its modern contemporary airs. However, its hues verge on the earthy side. White, brown and the occasional grey compliment the minimalist chairs and comfy sofas. A semi-outdoor patio with glass walls creates the illusion of outdoor dining without the noise or pollution.

Popular International and Indonesian dishes comprise the Citrus CafĂ©’s menu. Familiar dishes ensure its likeability among most people, and while its Spaghetti Carbonara may not be through-and through Italian-style authentic, it still is tasty and definitely acceptable. There’s something for everyone to nibble on, from traditional Indonesian Oxtail Soup to the unique Salmon Steak Spaghetti.

This is also a perfect place to talk about budget. It’s not often that you run to a cafĂ© that offers filling meals with sensible pricing, and in Citrus CafĂ©, you can feast on a delicious Sirloin Steak complete with trimmings such as potatoes and fried eggs and it won’t even cost you Rp. 100.000,-. Talk about great value!

Citrus CafĂ© is simply begging for you to come and have a chat with old-time friends and while you’re at it, choose a few of the starters. The first pick is always the hardest, but you can always pick the starters sampler, containing a bit of everything, including calamari rings, spicy Thai Wings and Crispy Seafood in cute little ‘parcels’. Another great pick is the fried mushrooms-Fresh, medium sized champignons floured and fried, served with homemade tartar sauce.

What will be the main course? Well it really depends on your taste buds. Ordering the steak certainly won’t lead to disappointment, and if you’re looking to spice up the event then order the colorful Thai BBQ Chicken. The juicy chicken fillet barbequed to perfection gets a whole new spunk when combined with the spicy-sour Thai Sauce.

The Thai Sauce not adventurous enough to suit you? Then order one of the traditional Indonesian dishes. A wide range of options for fried rice, including the Nasi Goreng Kampung – A spicier and more authentic version of the all-time favorite item, complete with traditional fried chicken. There’s also a wide range of Oxtail Soup, from the regular, fried and the hot Sop Buntut Balado.

There’s always room for dessert, and a few scrumptious options too. Take the super-rich Chocolate Truffle cake for instance. It’s simply oozing with chocolate flavour, and the ecstasy would be complete if you’d order the a la mode version, complete with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. Don’t miss out on the fresh and flavorful drinks such as the Blueberry Smoothie and Strawberry Float, and if you’re in need of perking up then loads of wake-up drinks are at your command. Take the Caffe Amore and Kahlua Cappucino for instance.

With a vibe that combines hip and cozy, sensible pricing, and satisfying portions, Citrus Café is definitely one fresh option. (SG/DI)

Fast Eddie's Pizza & Subs

Rating:★★★

Cuisine: Pizza
Location:Mustopo, Jakarta Pusat

Wow.. what a long day.

Selain itu, mereka juga menyediakan free wi-fi bagi anda yang mencari alternatif untuk berinternet. Disini tempat duduknya sekitar 60 kursi.

Makanan favorit mereka adalah Chicken Carbonara, Where's the Beef? dan juga Super Duper Deluxe.

Untuk kunjungan kali ini, saya pesan Chicken Carbonara (8 slices) dan juga a glass of soft drink. Well I ate all those slices hehe.. tipis sih.. but sekarang kenyang banget.

Harga untuk pizza sekitar 30K - 40K.
Minuman juga relatif terjangkau, dari 5K - 20K

Wanna try?
